LEOKADIA PAUL-KANOVICH was born in Lithuania. She received her B.A., M.A. and post-graduate degree at the Lithuanian Academy of Music in Vilnius and the P. Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory. She went on to become a professor of music at the Lithuanian State Conservatory before moving to Canada in 1983. Currently she is active as a chamber musician, piano accompanist and soloist. She is on the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and teaches piano in the School of the Arts at McMaster University. She will be joined for this performance by her sister, VITA PAUL-BINDER, who is a winner of the Lithuanian National Competition and a former faculty member of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She currently resides in New York, where she teaches piano and continues to perform as a chamber musician and accompanist. Leokadia and Vita will conclude the season’s Lunchtime Concert Series by performing the music of Bartok, Shostakovich and Piazzolla.
