Students Bridging Borders

Event start date: November 16, 2009

Event end date: November 16, 2009

Students Bridging Borders – a Canadian NGO involving secondary school students in social justice and environmental issues – presents the Hamilton premiere of “The Age of Stupid”. Narrated by Oscar nominee Pete Postlethwaite, The New York Times says this critically acclaimed documentary is, “a scorching appeal for humans to avoid knowingly up-ending the earth’s climate, delivered from the vantage-point of 2055.” This film blurs the boundary between documentary and sci-fi, and has been described as "one of the most important films you can see this year".

Six years in the making by the British director of “McLibel”, Franny Armstrong, The Age of Stupid takes a critical look from the retrospective of the future through documentary footage from the present.

On Monday, November 16th at 7p.m. (doors open at 6p.m.) Students Bridging Borders will premiere the movie at the Westdale Secondary School auditorium. Dr. David Suzuki will be on stage after the screening for an open mic question and answer session.

All proceeds from ticket donations ($10+ recommended) go to supporting Students Bridging Borders projects relieving the effects of global climate change in Africa, supporting local social justice and environmental projects that reduce our Canadian ecological footprint, as well as addressing the needs of the impoverished here in Hamilton.

Tickets can be purchased through Westdale SS at sbb@hwdsb.on.ca, at the Bryan Prince Bookstore or by contacting Tyler Cunningham 905-528-4050.
