Student Nutrition Program
Published: May 12, 2008
Hamilton Partners in Nutrition (PIN) is a partnership of community agencies and community members that support and facilitate local student nutrition programs for children and youth in Hamilton.
The Ministry of Child and Youth Services funds up to 15% of the total cost of running a student nutrition program. In Hamilton however, due to the large number of programs, provincial contributions amount to only 6%. The other 94% of operating costs must be leveraged by the school or community program through support from volunteers as well as financial and in-kind contributions from parents and donors.
You can help by:
- Coordinating or hosting a program
- Volunteering at a program
- Providing donations (food, supplies or financial aid)
- Fundraising
- Becoming a PIN member
In the AWWCA area there are Student Nutrition Programs at George R. Allan School, Dalewood Middle School, and Westdale Secondary School.
