Trinity Development Corp. Appeal of Innovation District

Published: January 17, 2008

In our member notice Jan. 12 we told you that Trinity Development Corp. is challenging the city's inclusion of land adjacent to McMaster Innovation Park within the rezoned West Hamilton Innovation District. Trinity has made a conditional offer to purchase 37 acres of that land for a "box store automotive commercial development." After attending a community information meeting Jan. 10, the AWWCA board decided to apply at the Ontario Municipal Board prehearing on Jan. 15 for "participant" status in support of the city at the upcoming OMB hearings.

AWWCA first vice president Lisa Dodds attended the OMB prehearing, and we were granted participant status, along with the Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association, the business improvement areas of Locke Street, Main Street West, and Westdale, and a few independent individuals. The OMB chair ordered Trinity Development Corp. to make available all relevant documentation related to their appeal by June 15. These documents must be made available to the participants electronically. A prehearing-status update will take place Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. in the same location--50 Main St. E., Room 6.
