Members Respond to Trucking Issue

Published: July 23, 2007

To AWWCA members:

Thanks to all of you for your prompt, supportive comments about the trucking issue. A sampling of responses is printed below. The board appreciates this type of feedback, as it certainly helps in our dealings with the university and the city. As promised, we will keep our members up to date on our progress through e-mails as well as on our website at www.awwca.ca.

Sincerely,

Rob Payne, President

Ainslie Wood/Westdale Community Association of Resident Homeowners Inc.

Sampling of responses to e-mail of July 20 about trucks traveling illegally through our community:

I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your efforts in trying to correct this unhealthy situation on our street and in our community. We will be willing to contribute in any way you see useful. Please let us know if you need us for whatever you might deem necessary.

Great letter to MAC and thank you so much for all of the tireless effort that you are putting into this and so many other issues.

You have my support, and I will be happy to join AWWCA in any public action you may want to take in this matter.

I think your letter to Pres. George is very appropriate and I support your stand fully.

Good letter of Rob Payne's! Good job all around. Thanks

Good work - absolutely there should be no large trucks on residential streets.

Yes, we should nag McMaster and the City of Hamilton concerning the illegal and very dangerous movement of trucks through our streets. There are four very young children residing on one side of my house, and three on the other side.

Having read this letter, it appears that our Association has been extraordinarily conciliatory in its tone and action towards the University on this matter.
